Second graders at Kings Highway School have been reading Emma Every Day: Crazy for Apples by C.L. Reid. After completing the story, they practiced retelling it using key story elements, focusing on the most important parts—particularly the problem and how the main character solved it—rather than retelling every detail. As an extension, the class also practiced signing letters and simple words from the story, as one of the main characters communicates using sign language.
