At Kings Highway School, Mrs. Massey’s kindergarten class is learning how deep breathing can help calm their bodies and minds. Students practice slow, deep breaths to relax when they feel excited, frustrated, or tired- helping them stay focused, ready to learn, and actively engaged throughout the day. Mrs. Fisher, speech teacher, visited the class to teach new strategies such as “The Cheetah Breath” and “The Drawbridge Breath.” Kindergarteners then brought their learning to their fifth-grade buddy class, proudly teaching the calming breaths to older students. Together, students are helping one another learn and grow in a calm environment.
