Delays and Early Closings

The fastest and most complete information on school closings and delays can be obtained by calling 341-1766. If schools are cancelled or delayed, that information is usually on the emergency line (341-1766) by 6:00 a.m.

The Superintendent may call for a one, two, or three hour delay depending on the circumstances. Early dismissals are at 1:30. The details regarding the change will be announced on the emergency phone line, the district webpage under Important District News, and through SchoolMessenger.

The radio and TV stations listed below carry announcements of delayed school opening or closing. If the station is not listed, it receives no information from the Westport Public Schools:

Second graders at Kings Highway School have been reading Emma Every Day: Crazy for Apples by C.L. Reid. After completing the story, they practiced retelling it using key story elements. As an extension, the class also practiced signing letters and simple words from the story, as one of the main characters communicates using sign language.

One way we build connections at Kings Highway School is through buddy classes. These pairings allow a primary class to connect with an intermediate class for shared learning and fun. Recently, Ms. Kouvaris' fourth graders teamed up with Ms. Martin's second graders, taking advantage of a beautiful day and our new Outdoor Learning Space to meet and get to know one another.
