Kings Highway School's fourth graders from Ms. Kouvaris’ class have been working on interest-based projects that connect their passions to mathematics. Students had the opportunity to choose a topic they are genuinely interested in and explore how math plays a role in it. Some topics include the planet, dogs, rock climbing, and many more!
In February, KHS celebrated Black History Month. Throughout the month, students learned about influential Black individuals from both the past and present. Additionally, interested students gathered after school to deepen their understanding. Participants explored the culture, history, art, and Southern culinary traditions of the Gee’s Bend Quilters through the picture book Pearl and Her Gee’s Bend Quilt by Tangular Irby.
